Eric Vibert , AP-HP Professor of Surgery Prof. Eric VIBERT, MD, PhD, is a 54-year-old academic surgeon specializing in liver surgery and transplantation at Paul Brousse Hospital (AP-HP) in Villejuif, where he has worked since 2007. He has delivered over 130 presentations at international congresses and has been invited to give 30 plenary lectures at major international meetings. With an H-index of 57, Prof. Vibert has authored 264 publications on liver diseases. He earned his PhD in 2012 from Université Paris-Sud (U-PSUD), focusing on innovative treatments for post-hepatectomy liver failure. That same year, he received his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR). Prof. Vibert currently holds a full professorship (PU-PH) at Paris-Saclay University and conducts research in surgical innovation at INSERM U1193. His work bridges disciplines, particularly by fostering collaborations between engineers and surgeons to reinvent surgical practices. Since 2019, he has chaired BOPA (Bloc Opératoire Augmenté), a large public-private consortium involving Paris-Saclay University, Mines-Télécom, and AP-HP. BOPA brings together surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, engineers, mathematicians, and anthropologists to enhance operating room safety. The consortium is supported by AP-HP and the IMT Foundation, with sponsorship from partners such as Orange, Medtronic, Relyens, Boston Scientific Foundation, Richard Wolf, Getinge, Caresyntax, Johnson & Johnson, and Fujifilm (www.chaire-bopa.fr). In 2022, Prof. Vibert was appointed Health Ambassador in the France 2030 Program. In 2023, he launched a strategic partnership between Paul Brousse Hospital and the Paris-Saclay Cancer Cluster, focusing on liver and pancreatic cancer. Together with Nicolas Castoldi, he also co-chairs Campus BOPEX, a "Tiers Lieu" (third place) dedicated to digital experimentation in the operating room, created under the France 2030 Health initiative. He is the author of Droit à l’erreur, Devoir de transparence (Right to Mistake, Duty of Transparency), published by Éditions de l’Observatoire, Paris, 2021.
