Doctor Guido Torzilli is Professor of Surgery at the Dept. of Biomedical Science of the Humanitas University, and Director of the Dept. of Surgery and of the Div. of Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Italy.
He graduated in Medicine cum laude and honor and board certificated cum laude in General Surgery at the University of Milan.
Dr Torzilli as Fellow of the Japanese Foundation for Promotion of Cancer Research, conducted clinical activity and research at the University of Tokyo, under the supervision of Professor Masatoshi Makuuchi. At the University of Tokyo, Dr Torzilli obtained also the PhD degree in Hepatobiliary Surgery and served as Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Department of Hepatobiliopancreatic Surgery and Transplantation chaired by Professor Masatoshi Makuuchi.
Doctor Torzilli has pioneered the contrast enhanced intraoperative ultrasound, the concept of R1vascular surgery, and several new operation, as the Upper and Lower Transversal Hepatectomies, the Mini-Meso-Hepatectomy, the Liver Tunnel, the Rollercoaster Hepatectomy, the Horseshoe Hepatectomy, the Sliced Liver Hepatectomy driving to the advanced parenchyma sparing resections which have enlarged the surgical solutions for primary and metastatic liver tumors.
Dr Torzilli is honorary member of 10 National Surgical Societies, and has been Visiting Professor, in several prestigious Universities worldwide. He is member of the Editorial Board of several international peer-reviewed Journals, and oncology, and founding member of International and National Scientific Societies.
Doctor Torzilli co-authored more than 420 publications, several books’ chapters and 2 books, delivering around 800 lectures at national and international meetings.
