Dr. Gonzalo Sapisochin is the Chief of Department for General and Abdominal Surgery & Liver Transplantation at the University Hospital of Vall d’Hebron in Barcelona, Spain. Prior to this Dr Sapisochin acted as Associate Professor in the Division of General Surgery at the University Health Network in Toronto, Canada. Historically, he has received a fellowship in abdominal transplant and HPB Surgical Oncology at the University of Toronto, Toronto General Hospital. He has published over 250 original manuscripts and chaired the 2019 ILTS Consensus Conference as a key driver of the Transplant Oncology concept. He also serves as Vice Chair of the ISLS Surgeon Liaison/Meeting Committee and is the Congress President for the ISLS Congress 2025.
